Children
For Parents. It's important for you to talk to your child about using the Internet safely. Here are a few tips to start the discussion. You may have a few of your own to add.
  • Remind your child to NEVER give out his/her full name, address, or phone number without your permission.

  • When using the Chat, your child will be asked to create a screen name. Please INSIST that they do not use their real name or ANY personally identifiable information at any time during their participation in the chat room. This would include, but is not limited to, real name, address, phone number, etc.

  • Tell your kids to let you know IMMEDIATELY if someone sends him/her something inappropriate by e-mail or tries to obtain personally identifiable information.

  • Remind them that it is NEVER okay to agree to meet anyone that they have met on the Internet without your permission.
  • Internet Industry Association Guides
Guides for supervising and controlling children's access to Internet content giving procedures you can implement to control your children's access to content and explaining your right to make complaints to the ABA about content.
